According to details, after a new agreement between the government and the banned outfit, normalcy has been restored in the twin cities after 11 days.
Containers on busy Murree Road in Rawalpindi were removed. Traffic police removed all obstacles.
Traffic was restored from Murree Road to Faizabad. All educational institutions, banks and business centers on Murree Road are open as usual today. All obstacles on Murree Road have been removed to stop the protesters. Murree Road has been reopened from Murree Chowk to Faizabad Interchange. Traffic is also flowing on all the connecting roads of Murree Road. Metro bus service and public transport have also been restored.
In addition, according to the metro bus administration, Rehmanabad station is closed due to the presence of police, all other stations are open for passengers. On the other hand, GT Road from Jhelum to Wazirabad is closed. According to National Highways Police, traffic on GT Road will be restored by tomorrow. Metro bus service between Rawalpindi and Islamabad was also restored. People were facing difficulties due to road and metro bus closures.
It should be noted that the agreement was reached by consensus after detailed talks between the government of Pakistan and the banned organization in an atmosphere of mutual trust. It is to be noted that in view of the TLP’s protest and threat of sit-in, various highways in the twin cities were closed which affected the flow of traffic. Roads and metro buses were closed, causing severe hardship to the people.
