LAHORE: The rescue operation has been completed in the flood affected areas of South Punjab and now steps are being taken to rehabilitate the victims while PDMA is continuing the process of flood related coordination with other provinces on the direction of the government.
Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab Faisal Farid has said that doctors, nurses and medical trucks have been dispatched to Balochistan and Sindh with the support of the Health Department on the orders of Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.
He said that the rescue operation has been completed in the flood-affected areas of Punjab province and rehabilitation measures for the flood victims are ongoing. During the rescue operation, 75,719 people trapped in the flood were rescued.
Faisal Farid said that 184 relief camps were established in the flood areas, of which 45 camps are still operational.
He said that till now tents have been distributed to 39 thousand 966 households by PDMA and ration has been delivered to 1 lakh 39 thousand 43 flood affected households, 19 thousand 225 households have been provided with plastic mats, 21 thousand 254 mosquito nets have been provided. 65 thousand 576 clean water cans (bottles) have also been delivered to the flood victims by PDMA.
He said that till now flour bags have been distributed in 22 thousand 110 households and 4845 blankets, 499 beds, dishes and other items have also been provided to the flood victims. 15,000 animals trapped in the flood were rescued and 6,64,447 animals were provided treatment and treatment facilities.
The director general said that 758 rescue workers and 278 boats participated in the flood-affected areas and completed the operation on time. Preferably, all recovery agencies are mobilized and in the field.
