LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has approved the upgrading of emergency wards of all government hospitals across the province and announced to give free medicines to the patients there.
According to media reports, Punjab Chief Minister also gave approval to upgrade the Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology (WIC) while increasing the number of beds in the hospital.
In the meeting held in the Chief Minister’s Office under the chairmanship of the new Chief Minister of Punjab, it was decided to expand the health card program of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in a better way.
Speaking on this occasion, Pervez Elahi called the right of patients to get free medicines in emergency.
Talking about Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology, he said that the number of beds for patients in this institute will be increased to 400.
He further said that the shortage of doctors especially anesthesiologists and paramedics in the institute would be immediately addressed and special allowance would be given to the anesthesiologists to induce them to render their services in the hospital.
He also ordered the construction of residences for doctors and medical staff on the vacant land of the institution.
The Chief Minister directed the officials concerned to start a special program to enhance the capacity of doctors.
He emphasized that the paperwork should be completed immediately so that the people of the province can be provided with the best health facilities.
In the meeting, along with improving the health department, provision of best treatment facilities to the people was also comprehensively reviewed.
Former Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Former Chairman P&D Salman Ghani, Former Principal Secretary to Chief Minister GM Sikandar, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Muhammad Khan Bhatti, Chairman P&D, Secretary Health, Head of Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology. , DG Rescue 1122 and other concerned officials attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab expressed grief over the death of 4 people drowning in flood water in Basti Talpur area of Dera Ghazi Khan.
He said that he shares the grief with the families of the deceased and stands with them in this hour of trial.
Chaudhry Parvez Elahi also expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of precious human lives due to the collapse of the mosque wall in Jhelum.
The Chief Minister of Punjab prayed for forgiveness for the deceased and said that may Allah grant the bereaved to bear this trauma.
