Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has challenged the decision issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the Islamabad High Court in the prohibited funding case.
PTI Additional Secretary General Umar Ayub filed a petition against the Election Commission in which the ECP has been made a party.
In the petition, the court has been requested to annul the decision of the Election Commission on August 2 in the prohibited funding case.
In the petition, the court was requested to declare the fact-finding report of the Election Commission as adversarial, invalid and out of jurisdiction.
At the same time, it was requested that any action on behalf of the Election Commission should be declared out of jurisdiction and that no action can be taken on the basis of the said fact-finding report.
In the petition, PTI has requested that the action of the Election Commission in the prohibited funding case be declared illegal and the show cause notice of the Election Commission should also be annulled.
It should be noted that on August 2, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) while announcing the decision of the prohibited funding case pending against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) since 2014, said that it was proved that Tehreek-e-Insaf had Obtained funding from prohibited sources.
It was stated in the judgment that PTI received prohibited funding from USA, Canada and Wootton Cricket and PTI knowingly received prohibited funding from Wootton Cricket Limited.
It was stated in the judgment that Tehreek-e-Insaaf took funds from 34 foreigners including Arif Naqvi, also received funding from Abraaj Group, IPI and USI, funding from USALLC was also found to be prohibited.
It was stated in the judgment that PTI received prohibited funding from USA, Canada and Wootton Cricket and PTI knowingly received prohibited funding from Wootton Cricket Limited.
It was stated in the judgment that Tehreek-e-Insaaf took funds from 34 foreigners including Arif Naqvi, also received funding from Abraaj Group, IPI and USI, funding from USALLC was also found to be prohibited.
Later, in the light of the decision pronounced by the Election Commission on August 2, Chairman PTI Imran Khan was issued a show cause notice and directed to appear on August 23.
