Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has challenged the implementation of Article 144 in Lahore by the caretaker government of Punjab.
According to ARY News, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf has challenged the implementation of Article 144 in Lahore by the caretaker government of Punjab in Election Commission of Pakistan Islamabad and Lahore. Advocate Dr. Babar Awan has filed a petition in the Election Commission of Pakistan Islamabad, while Yasmin Rashid and Mian Aslam have filed a petition in the Election Commission Punjab office in Lahore.
In the applications filed in the Election Commission, the position has been taken that the implementation of Section 144 on the Tehreek-e-Insaf rally in Lahore is illegal. The Punjab government is trying to stop the rally by justifying the PSL match.
It has been clarified in the application that the route of PTI rally and PSL match is different. The rally will end at 5:30 pm while the PSL match will start at 7 pm, while Section 144 has not been imposed during PSL in any city before.
In the petitions prepared by PTI, the Election Commission has been demanded to end the implementation of Section 144 in Lahore.
After filing a petition against Article 144, Babar Awan while talking to the media said that the caretaker government is the chairperson. Imran Khan is the target of PSL excuse. There is no need for Section 144 in the whole of Lahore. They shut down the entire city due to the fear of Imran Khan.
The PTI leader said that meetings are being held by PML-N in marriage halls, when 79 cases have been filed against one leader, how can there be transparent elections. If the ROs and DROs are the ones to ban the rally, then how will they accept it? We request that the polling staff be taken from the Judiciary.
After filing the petition in Lahore, PTI leaders Yasmin Rashid and Mian Aslam spoke to the media saying that the rally of the country’s largest party Tehreek-e-Insaaf is being stopped while Maryam Nawaz is allowed to hold the rally.
He said that he has filed a petition in the Election Commission in which he has said that Section 144 is illegal and unconstitutional. We have prepared for the rally, we should be allowed to take out the rally.
