Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to form a judicial commission to investigate the murder of senior journalist Arshad Sharif.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said in a video statement that the sad incident of our journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya is highly condemnable and the people are saddened by it. I have decided to conduct a transparent inquiry into this incident by the High Judicial Commission and for this we will apply for a judge of the Islamabad High Court.
Shahbaz Sharif further said that we will get the cabinet to confirm this decision. I assure the nation that there will be a thorough and transparent investigation of this incident and the facts will be brought before the entire nation.
The Prime Minister said that before leaving for Saudi Arabia yesterday, I spoke to the President of Kenya and requested him to send us the investigation report immediately and play his role in sending Arshad Sharif’s dead body to Pakistan. I will leave no stone unturned and sympathize with me.
Senior journalist and anchor Arshad Sharif was shot dead by the police in Kenya on Sunday night. His wife Jawaria Siddique says that Arshad Sharif’s body will arrive in Pakistan today and the burial will take place on Thursday at the H-11 cemetery in Islamabad.
