The Prime Minister suspended the collection of fixed sales tax through electricity bills. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that a new action plan should be prepared for tax collection, the government is trying to take all possible measures for the financial security of the poor.
According to private TV, a review meeting on fixed sales tax collection through electricity rates and bills was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Khurram Dastgir, Miftah Ismail, Mossadegh Malik and other senior officials participated in the meeting.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif directed to suspend the collection of fixed sales tax through electricity bills, similarly, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif also directed to prepare a new process for tax collection. The Prime Minister has also ordered an inquiry into the application of fixed sales tax on the vendors through electricity bills at higher than the agreed rate.
At the time of decision on tax collection, the representatives of traders should be included in the consultation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the relevant ministries and authorities should immediately devise an effective mechanism to reduce electricity rates, the government is trying to take all possible measures for the financial security of the poor. On the other hand, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal while addressing an event held at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that the country will become economically stable in the next 6 to 8 months.
