Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered action against hoarders and profiteers in the face of rising sugar prices in the country. A detailed briefing was given regarding it to the PM.
The meeting was informed that at present there is an abundance of sugar in the country but the decision to close sugar mills in Sindh has pushed up prices.
The meeting was informed that Sindh also disagreed with the decisions of the federation and other provinces in the wheat crisis which led to an emergency situation.
Addressing the meeting, the Prime Minister said that the prices of goods in the international market are rising and as Pakistan is dependent on imported goods, the local market is being affected. Is taking all possible steps.
He directed to ensure implementation of Sugar Factories (Control) Amendment Act 2021, Punjab Prevention of Hoarding Act 2020 and Punjab Registration of Godowns Act 2014 against Chinese Mafia and hoarders. The situation will not be tolerated.
Imran Khan directed strict action against hoarders and profiteers in accordance with the law and said that the government was focusing on serving the people beyond politics and was aware of the effects of inflation.
He said that in order to provide relief to the people, the provincial and district governments should be seen in the field. , Present facts and figures to the public and run an effective awareness campaign.
It was decided at the meeting that the existing stock of sugar should be brought for sale in the market and crushing of sugarcane should be started across the country from November 15. Strict implementation of crushing laws would be ensured. It was decided that strict legal action would be taken against those involved in hoarding and profiteering.
Federal Ministers Hamad Azhar, Fawad Chaudhry, Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtia, Syed Fakhr Imam, Dr. Forough Naseem, Finance Advisor Shaukat Fayyaz Tareen, Interior Adviser Mirza Shehzad Akbar, Special Assistant Dr. Shahbaz Gul and Chairman FBR attended the meeting. Chief Secretary Punjab, Balochistan and senior officers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also attended the meeting.
