Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to give Shaukat Tareen a Senate ticket. Shaukat Tareen is likely to be elected as a senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Shaukat Tareen’s constitutional term is coming to an end in the second week of next month. The decision is expected in 2 days.
According to details, on the issue of constitutional term of Federal Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen, Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to give Shaukat Tareen a Senate ticket. Sources said that Shaukat Tareen will be elected Senator from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Sources said that the decision to make Shaukat Tareen a senator was taken in a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister. The decision will be taken in two days. On this occasion, the journalist asked Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen when he was giving good news, to which Shaukat Tareen said that good news is coming soon.
It is a legal requirement to make Shaukat Tareen a senator to continue his work as a federal minister. According to the constitution, an unelected person must become a member of parliament within six months of becoming a federal minister. Shaukat Tareen’s constitutional term expires in the second week of next month.
It may be recalled that in April this year, the government reshuffled the federal cabinet and took back the portfolio of finance ministry from Hamad Azhar and handed over the portfolio of finance and revenue to Shaukat Tareen.
