ISLAMABAD: Despite the removal of Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema by the Prime Minister, President Arif Alvi directed Omar Sarfraz Cheema to continue in office.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif yesterday dismissed the Governor of Punjab from his post and sent a summary to the President. Continue to perform your duties until a decision is made on the dismissal summary.
Earlier in the press conference, Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema had said on the removal order that only the President can remove me from office and I will continue to work till his orders come.
Governor Punjab Omar Sarfraz Cheema also postponed the swearing in of new Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz.
