Stressing that a political solution is the best tool for peace in Afghanistan, the Pakistani foreign minister stressed that Islamabad is working to establish links between Afghan leaders and the Taliban.
The Pakistani Foreign Minister said that finding a political solution through negotiations is the best tool to ensure lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan.
“Pakistan hopes to bring together Afghanistan’s top leaders to find a political solution through dialogue,” Qureshi was quoted as saying by Radio Pakistan.
The Pakistani foreign minister continued: “Islamabad is working to establish links between Afghan leaders as well as the Taliban and northern coalition groups to remove obstacles to peace in the country.”
He also spoke with his Uzbek and Tajik counterparts.
The senior Pakistani diplomat noted that peace in Afghanistan would help boost diplomatic relations as well as strengthen the economy and transit, especially in Central Asia.
In the end, he said, the international community has acknowledged the role of Pakistan in the peace of Afghanistan.
Earlier, Pakistan’s foreign minister had said that power should be divided to prevent a civil war in Afghanistan.
