Regarding the electoral alliance, the PML-N accepted the PPP’s condition. On accepting the condition, the PPP hinted at joining the federal cabinet.
Senior journalist Naeem Ashraf Butt has reported that there will be an adjustment between the two parties for 7 to 8 seats in Punjab instead of 15. PPP will also support N in a few seats in Sindh including 1 seat in Karachi. After the PPP’s condition was accepted, the PPP has hinted to join the federal cabinet. The post of President of Pakistan, Speaker National Assembly and Senate Chairman will be given to the PPP by consensus.
It may be recalled that the PPP had expressed interest in the posts of President, Speaker and Chairman Senate while the PML-N was trying to persuade the PPP to take over the ministries. He had said that if there is an electoral alliance for at least 15 seats then the ministries should be taken. However, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had opposed both the ministries and the electoral alliance.
Meanwhile, on the issue of formation of federal cabinet of the new government, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif called the leaders of PDM parties for Iftar today. It has been reported that the Prime Minister will host an Iftar dinner at the Prime Minister’s House where Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will thank the leaders of the PDM parties for their support and finalize the new cabinet after consultation with allies. The names of the federal cabinet are expected to be announced by tonight.
