Islamabad: A meeting was held on complaints related to electricity bills under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The meeting was attended by Federal Minister Khurram Dastgir and other high officials including Ahad Cheema.
The Prime Minister took notice of the public complaints regarding the excessive electricity bills, while the concerned authorities were directed to submit an immediate report on the electricity bills.
The Prime Minister said that I am committed to always speak the truth to my people, servant Pakistan is accountable to its people for solving public problems, I will not sit with China until the grievances of the people are resolved. On the other hand, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif decided to implement agricultural reforms in the country on an emergency basis.
Short, medium and long-term comprehensive planning was included in the recommendations for agricultural reforms. On this occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the government will provide necessary facilities to farmers on priority basis and timely quality seeds at low cost to farmers. Supply of fertilizer will be ensured. Facilities will be provided to agricultural research institutes for quality seed production at local level.
He said that the government will ensure the provision of modern machinery and loans to the farmers. Steps should be taken to ensure increase in yield per acre before sowing of wheat crop and ensure that government subsidy on agricultural production reaches the farmers. He said that the effects of climate change should also be taken into account during agricultural planning and a comprehensive awareness campaign should be conducted to make the farmers aware of the modern methods of agriculture practiced at the international level.
