The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is likely to take a major decision on Punjab politics, for which Prime Minister Imran Khan has invited Punjab Governor, Usman Buzdar and senior party leader Mian Mahmood Rasheed to Islamabad.
According to media reports, Prime Minister Imran Khan has summoned new Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema, caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar and senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Mian Mahmood Rasheed to Islamabad.
Citing sources, it was said that the meeting between the Prime Minister and the three leaders would discuss possible options in the political crisis in Punjab. Governor Punjab Omar Sarfaraz in his meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan will take guidance regarding future course of action.
It may be recalled that the government had sacked Chaudhry Sarwar from the post of Governor Punjab yesterday morning, after which Omar Sarfraz Cheema, one of the founding leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was appointed as the new Governor of Punjab. Governor Punjab took oath or Chief Justice Lahore High Court Muhammad Amir Bhatti administered oath to Omar Sarfraz Cheema. Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Bazdar was also present in the swearing in ceremony held at Governor House.
On the other hand, the meeting of the Punjab Assembly was adjourned till April 6 after a commotion yesterday. The Speaker adjourned the sitting till April 6 after severe disturbances in the House.
