LAHORE: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is keen to promote cooperation in various fields and work together with the member countries of Shanghai Cooperation Organization to achieve its goals.
According to media reports, during the meeting with Ambassador Zhang Ming, Secretary General of SCO in Lahore, Shahbaz Sharif expressed the hope that all SCO member countries will work together to establish peace and increase international solidarity and cooperation. Will continue to work.
The Prime Minister also reiterated Pakistan’s strong commitment to the principles of the SCO Charter .
He also highlighted the challenges faced by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization due to rising fuel and food prices and resulting food insecurity.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister spoke about the increase in the prices of fuel and food items and the resulting food insecurity, as well as a large number of the eight member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization including China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. I shed light on the economic and financial difficulties for countries and the challenges they pose.
Appreciating the comprehensive development agenda of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Prime Minister emphasized that its main objective is the development and prosperity of the member countries.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the need to develop adequate funding mechanisms to promote intra-SCO trade as well as development initiatives.
He highlighted Pakistan’s priorities and national development goals in areas such as trade and economy, communication and transport, poverty alleviation, energy, agriculture and food security, climate change, security, information technology and cultural links.
The Prime Minister appreciated the work of SCO-RATS, a regional counter-terrorism structure, where Pakistan, along with other members, is playing an active role in countering common security challenges.
The Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization appreciated Pakistan’s constructive contribution to the organization and invited the Prime Minister to the summit in Samarkand, Uzbek city, in September.
