ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister’s request for PIA’s Boeing 777 to perform Umrah has raised fears of a loss of 50,000 dollars day.
PIA sources said that the Prime Minister’s Office contacted PIA in which they have requested for a Boeing 777 aircraft for the Prime Minister’s Office. The Boeing 777 aircraft will carry Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and members of the Assembly.
According to sources, the PIA plane will be used for the Prime Minister’s visit to Saudi Arabia.
Sources said that the use of PIA’s aircraft by the Prime Minister could cost PIA between 50000 and 60,000 dollars a day.
Prime Minister chaired a meeting on departure to Saudi Arabia
Meanwhile, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to prepare for the upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia. The meeting was attended by PML-N National Assembly Member Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Minister for Overseas Pakistan Sajid Hussain Turi, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Maryam Aurangzeb, Minister of State for External Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi and senior officials. Authorities attended.
The Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities to formulate effective recommendations for the promotion of Pak-Saudi relations, especially employment, energy, food security and long-term strategic partnership. He said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have a lasting bond of Islamic brotherhood at the grassroots level and Pakistanis cherish this long standing relationship with their Saudi brethren.
It is to be noted that this is the first foreign visit of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif after assuming the office of Prime Minister.
