Petrol prices will go up further from July 1:
Finance Minister Muftah Ismail
Islamabad :
Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has hinted at making petrol more expensive. The Finance Minister has said that petrol prices will be further increased from July 1 .
Talking on a program on Nenji TV, the Finance Minister said that levy would be imposed on petroleum products. He said that after the summary of OGRA, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif would give final approval but he was not in favor of imposing sales tax.
Commenting on the news of handing over the portfolio of Finance Minister to Ishaq Dar, Muftah Ismail said that it is up to the Prime Minister to retain him or not, he can change the Minister if he is not satisfied with the work, he said. This happens in domestic politics.
The Prime Minister is planning with him for the next several days but no one knows the future as happened with Asad Umar. The Finance Minister has said that Ishaq Dar is part of the government’s economic team.
He was also on the panel in SBP interviews. Meanwhile, the Finance Minister offered to sell PIA and Pakistan Steel Mills for Rs. 1, while talking to a private TV channel. “Steel Mills and PIA are very profitable if one buys them from us for Rs 1, but no one will buy them because their equity is running in minus,” he said.
The Finance Minister said that he has talked to the friendly countries regarding PIA. If the friendly countries do not buy PIA, they will think of something else. While the issue of steel mills is more important at the moment, a meeting was also held on steel mills 2 days ago, they have been asked to work, out of 19 thousand, 4,500 acres of land are being leased, the original location of steel mills. We are separating it, transferring the debt of steel mills to another company, we will definitely privatize something by the end of this year.
