Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Pakistan wants strong relations with the European Union. EU Ambassador Androla Kaminar praised Pakistan’s efforts for peace and stability in the region, especially in the Afghan peace process.
The report quoted the Pakistan Army Public Relations Department (ISPR) as saying that in a meeting with EU Ambassador to Pakistan Andrew Kaminar at General Headquarters, General Qamar Javed Bajwa said that ” Values and we look forward to promoting multilateral bilateral relations based on mutual benefit.
It may be recalled that last month’s anti-French protests in Pakistan and the demand for deportation of the French ambassador raised questions about Pakistan’s relations with the European Union. These suspicions were heightened.
The Army Chief’s remarks have been seen in the context of addressing these concerns. According to ISPR, the meeting discussed the regional security situation, including recent developments in the Afghan peace process.
Later, the EU Ambassador also called on Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry. During the meeting, the Federal Minister expressed Pakistan’s deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza.
