In good faith, Pakistan released 20 Indian fishermen who were arrested for violating Pakistan’s territorial waters and had to serve their sentences.
According to details, Pakistan once released 20 Indian fishermen from Malir Jail in a show of goodwill. The fishermen were arrested for violating Pakistan’s territorial waters and were serving their sentences for four years.
According to jail superintendent Arshad Shah, Indian authorities have confirmed the Indian citizenship of the released persons. The fishermen will be sent to India through Wagah border. Edhi Welfare is bearing all the travel expenses of the prisoners.
Prison officials said that all the legal proceedings of the inmates in the jail have been completed and the inmates were released in a spirit of goodwill. Prison officials further said that there are still 588 Indian inmates in Malir Jail.
It is to be noted that Indian fishermen detained by Pakistan are treated in every possible way on the basis of human rights and all kinds of facilities are provided to them whereas on the contrary Pakistani fishermen are subjected to the worst torture in Indian jails.
