Islamabad :
Foreign Office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar asked various questions on the missile which was fired by India into Pakistan which was dropped on March 9 in Mian Channu district of Khanewal.
India had expressed regret in the statement yesterday and the Indian Ministry of Defense had said that an inquiry into the incident had been ordered.
Earlier, Director General (DG) of Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR) Maj. Gen. Babar Iftikhar had asked the media in a briefing that India should clarify the matter.
The Foreign Office said in a statement that India’s “simple explanation” did not satisfy the issue.
“The seriousness of the incident raises a number of fundamental questions, including security protocols and technical protocols for preventing accidental or illegal firing of missiles into the nuclear environment,” the statement said.
The Foreign Office issued questions and said that the Indian authorities have to answer, the questions are:
Explain the steps that can be taken to deal with a missile accidental fire and the procedure adopted and especially the steps to be taken regarding the incident mentioned.
Explain the type and details of missiles that fall within the borders of Pakistan.
Explain the air route of the accidentally fired missile and how it entered Pakistan. بھارتی Are Indian missiles ready to fire even during routine maintenance?
Why did India not immediately inform Pakistan about the accidental firing of the missile and why did it wait for Pakistan to announce it and seek clarification?
Explain if the missile was under the control of the armed forces or some inexperienced elements showed this level of incompetence.
The Foreign Office said the whole incident points to a number of issues and technical flaws in India’s handling of strategic weapons.
The statement said, “India’s decision to conduct an internal inquiry is not enough as the missile has landed within Pakistan’s borders, so Pakistan calls for a joint investigation to uncover the facts of the incident.”
It may be recalled that the accidental firing of the missile by India was confirmed yesterday after which National Security Adviser Moeed Yousuf in his statement had raised questions on India’s modus operandi.
He had said that a supersonic missile from India landed at a distance of 250 km and landed in Pakistan.
He said that India has not been able to take Pakistan into confidence, we have been repeatedly drawing the world’s attention to India’s flawed defense system, how can such an irresponsible country have a sensitive nuclear capability.
The National Security Adviser said that in the recent past, uranium has been stolen in India and citizens have been arrested for smuggling uranium.
