Islamabad:
On the occasion of International Quds Day, Foreign Office Spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry said that Pakistan will continue to support Palestine till its independence and sovereignty. He said that we are committed to achieving the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and establishing an independent state. We will continue our full support in the struggle.
Speaking as the host of the Islamabad Policy Institute’s (IPI) webinar ‘Dynamics of the Muslim World and the Future of Palestine: Time to Fight Back’, the Foreign Office spokesman said, “We are committed to the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. And we will continue to give our full support in the struggle for an independent state. “
Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry, while emphasizing Pakistan’s unwavering support for the cause of Palestine, said that Pakistan has made every resolution in favor of Palestine at all levels, including the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Supported or supported.
He said that Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognize a Palestinian state in 1988 and later in 2012 it was co-sponsored by a resolution of the UN General Assembly which enhanced its status as a non-member observer.
It should be noted that after the recognition of Israel by the Arab states last year, there was a series of speculations that Pakistan was under pressure to recognize Tel Aviv.
However, Prime Minister Imran Khan categorically denied the rumors, saying his country would not recognize Israel until a state acceptable to the Palestinians was established.
Speaking on Pakistan’s policy on Palestine at the webinar, Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry said that for a just, comprehensive and lasting peace, Pakistan, the United Nations and the two states should abide by international law, including relevant resolutions of the OIC. He supports a solution, while supporting the pre-1967 borders and Palestine as the capital of Jerusalem.
On this issue, Prime Minister Imran Khan had said that if we recognize Israel, then we have to leave Occupied Kashmir as well because the issue of both is the same. He said that we have to answer to Allah about Palestine. Conscience will never be willing to leave the Palestinians alone.
Despite US pressure on Saudi Arabia, the largest economy in the Arab world, Riyadh has not ruled out following in the footsteps of its key regional ally (the UAE).
Saudi Arabia has said it cannot establish diplomatic relations with Israel in imitation of the United Arab Emirates unless the Jewish state signs a peace treaty with the Palestinians.
It should be noted that the United Arab Emirates recognized Israel on August 15, 2020. Later, many other Gulf countries followed suit.
