ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif says that Pakistan needs substantial debt relief, the world must stand with Pakistan. Today we are affected by climate change, tomorrow any other country can be.
According to details, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif gave an interview to American TV Bloomberg and said that I should have been with the flood victims at that time, I am here to tell the world what happened in our country.
The Prime Minister said that the cloudburst happened in our country due to climate change, we have no part in climate change. Pakistan’s carbon emissions are less than one percent. 3 crore 3 million people were affected by the flood, 1500 people died including 400 children, 4 million acres of crops were destroyed due to flood and 1 million houses were completely destroyed.
He said that the Secretary General of the United Nations visited the flood-affected areas and witnessed the devastation. He described the destruction caused by the flood as unbelievable. I am grateful to the American President for speaking about the floods in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister said that we have less time, 3 lakh children are suffering from epidemics and hunger, Pakistan needs substantial debt relief. Asked the UN Secretary General and the heads of European countries to help for relief.
He said that the damage caused by the flood was initially estimated at 30 billion dollars, the world must stand with Pakistan. Talked to the IMF and the World Bank to make a program for the affected people.
The Prime Minister said that we have to increase the price of petrol and electricity every month. I met the Russian President. Talked to the Russian President about buying petrol and exporting grain.
He said that I extend my hand to all my friends in Pakistan, we all have to leave politics and work together. Today we are affected by climate change, tomorrow any other country can be.
The Prime Minister further said that India is our neighbor and we always have to stay together, it is up to us to decide whether we want to be peaceful neighbors or want to maintain tension, there is only one problem with India and that is Kashmir. If we are ready to talk about Kashmir, we are also ready for talks.
