The Supreme Court took stern notice of the non-introduction of Urdu as the official language and demanded an answer from the concerned authorities, saying that the order to make Urdu the official language should be implemented immediately.
According to details, a contempt of court case was heard on the violation of the order to make Urdu the official language. In this regard, the Supreme Court sought reply from the Ministry of Education. A two-member bench headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial filed the case. The apex court also sought reply from the Punjab government on non-teaching of Punjabi literature in educational institutions of Punjab province.
Justice Umar Ata Bandial in his remarks said that the order of the Supreme Court to make Urdu the official language should be implemented immediately. Apart from education, one thing is also training. That they take steps to keep their language alive, we must make Urdu a world language.
He said that Urdu language is not getting any promotion in educational institutions. The federal government should point out which are the institutions for introducing Urdu language. Why is it behind? We will take the issue of introduction of Urdu language seriously. Later, the hearing of the case in the Supreme Court was adjourned indefinitely.
