Islamabad :
On the direction of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif, a notification was also issued to reconstitute the National Command and Operations Center in the National Institutes of Health.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said that all the relevant ministries and directorates would continue to assist the NCOC in its proceedings while the Minister of Health would preside over the affairs of the NCOC.
The NCOC will expand its operations at the national level to facilitate the prevention, detection, monitoring and response of public health emergencies, as well as coordination with all provinces and territories.
Earlier on May 10, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, taking note of the first case of a new coronavirus Omecron variant of Corona virus in the country, issued instructions to immediately restore the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC).
The Prime Minister had also sought a report from the Ministry of National Health on the current situation regarding the new sub-variant of the Omicron variant.
It may be recalled that on March 31, 2022, the government announced the closure of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) today following a rapid decline in Corona virus cases in the country and successful vaccination of large population.
