Karachi: The Sindh High Court has issued notices on the contempt petition against the Sindh government for not implementing the recommendations of the Water Commission.
A hearing was held in the High Court on the contempt petition regarding non-implementation of the recommendations of the Water Commission.
The petitioner’s lawyer stated that the recommendations of the Water Commission established on the order of the Supreme Court are not being implemented. Failure to implement the report of the Water Commission is contempt of court.
He said that on the order of the Supreme Court, the Water Commission was formed under the chairmanship of Justice Amir Hani Muslim. The commission prepared a report on clean water supply and sewage drainage in Karachi. The Sindh government has not implemented the report of the commission due to which the city is still facing problems.
The petitioner said that my residential area Model Colony is also suffering from water and sewage problems. Despite the tender in two and a half years, no practical work has been done in UC 3 Shah Faisal Colony. Sewerage lines have not been completed and streets are dilapidated. Due to the negligence of the Water Board authorities, the budget of 6 crores is not being used.
