ISLAMABAD: A bill has been introduced in the National Assembly to revoke the right to vote of dual nationals and give the right to overseas persons with Pakistani citizenship only while giving reserved seats to the disabled despite government opposition.

Dissident PTI member Noor Alam Khan, while introducing the Election Act Amendment Bill, said that he was against giving the right to vote to Pakistanis abroad with dual citizenship while those with Pakistani citizenship were in favor of giving the right to vote to Pakistanis abroad. ۔ The bill was sent to the proposed electoral reform committee.
Javed Latif said that he was against registering cases under the guise of religion but it was time to decide against Imrani fitna. The decision should be taken in consultation with scholars. MQM’s Kishore Zehra said that we are brought to meet the quorum, proper seats are not provided. The Speaker directed the staff to solve the problem. Ghous Bakhsh Mehr pointed out that the quorum was not met and the meeting was adjourned till 11.30 am today.
