Lahore:
The Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has issued a written verdict in the murder case of Sri Lankan citizen Priyantha Kumara in Sialkot.
The 89-page judgment was started by the court with the word martyrdom. At the beginning of the judgment, translations of Quranic verses and hadiths were written.
According to the text of the judgment, the incidence of mob killings for desecration is increasing in our society. Such cases need to be dealt with with iron fists.
The verdict issued by the anti-terrorism court said that punishments should be given to prevent the people from taking the law into their own hands. Burning is strictly forbidden.
The court also said in its judgment that our Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade Muslims from desecrating the bodies of non-Muslims.
It may be recalled that yesterday, the anti-terrorism court had sentenced six persons to death and 82 convicts to imprisonment while acquitting one accused.
In Sialkot on December 3, hundreds of people accused of blasphemy tortured and killed the Sri Lankan factory manager and his body was cremated.
Pakistan moved the body of the deceased to the Sri Lankan capital, where his last rites were performed.
