KARACHI: K Electric has submitted a request for reduction in electricity prices to Nepra.
In terms of monthly fuel price adjustment, a reduction of Rs 1.88 paise per unit has been requested in electricity prices, while in terms of quarterly adjustment Rs 7.83 paise per unit has been requested.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hear K Electric’s application on November 30.
On the other hand, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has requested in NEPRA that electricity for other cities of the country should be increased by 24 paise.
CPPA has said in the application that the price of electricity should be increased on the basis of monthly fuel adjustment. Last month, the production cost of furnace oil was Rs. 17 paise per unit imported.
Last month, 10 billion 37 crore units of electricity were generated while the total production cost of electricity was 97 billion 71 crore rupees.
It should be noted that the hearing of the request regarding the increase in electricity prices will be held on November 29.
