KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has adjourned the hearing of a petition against arbitrary increase in milk prices in Karachi without taking any action.
A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Ahmed Ali Chekh heard the petition against arbitrary increase in milk prices in Karachi. A progress report was presented by Commissioner Karachi.
Irfan Aziz, counsel for the petitioner, stated that if the price of milk was fixed at Rs. 94 by the commissioner, then it would have been sold at Rs. , Commissioner Karachi should be obliged to sell at a fixed price.
Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh remarked that the prices of all commodities have gone up. It will be said tomorrow that the price of sugar and flour should also be fixed by the court. It is not the job of the court to fix the prices of food items.
Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh in an interview with Irfan Aziz Advocate said that animal fodder has also become expensive. Do you know what kind of fodder buffalo eats and how expensive it is? How can you do that ?, Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh adjourned the hearing of the petition without taking any action.
