Lahore: Railway authorities have indicated that due to the presence of flood water on the tracks and bridges, 100% passenger and freight train operations will be delayed for another 12 to 15 days.
The railway administration has given refunds for all the trains to the passengers till September 11, but from tomorrow September 12, Rehman Baba train will be run from Peshawar to Faisalabad only up to Rohri station, more than 30 up and down trains are closed.
Railway authorities are facing technical difficulties in starting the train operation due to flood water and if the train operation is started then there is fear of further technical damage to the railway infrastructure.
Chief Operating Superintendent Officer Railway Waqar Shahid says that the situation of flood water on the track is being reviewed round the clock, due to flood water on the railway track and bridges, train operation cannot be started under any circumstances, 100% passenger and freight train. It may take another 12 to 15 days to resume operations, as soon as the situation improves, 100 percent train operations will be started.
Sources say that more than 30 up and down trains are completely closed due to which the railway deficit is also increasing.
