ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police has asked the top administration to issue a search warrant for PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence in connection with the case against Dr Shahbaz Gill as a satellite phone and a mobile phone were recovered from his apartment. Arms were recovered.
According to media reports, Shahbaz Gill has been sent to Parliament Lodges for forensic examination.
Apart from this, the police has prepared a list of PTI leaders who were at Shehbaz Gul’s house on August 8, while a list of media persons who contacted these leaders has also been prepared.
Police claimed that Shehbaz Gill appeared in the 4 pm news bulletin of ARY News through a landline from the former prime minister’s residence.
Senior police officers told Dawn that the list was prepared through geofencing and call data records of people present, with the aim of ‘naming them as conspirators in the case’.
He further said that Imran Khan’s house and the landline installed there were also used in the crime and legal action is being initiated against him.
He said that a report on new developments in the case has been sent to the concerned senior officers for approval to initiate further legal action.
After approval, search warrants will be issued for the residence and the arrest of the alleged conspirators, he added.
In a separate development, Dawn has learned that a satellite phone and a weapon recovered from the apartment allotted to Shehbaz Gul in Parliament Lodges have been sent for forensic examination.
Police claimed to have recovered a 9 mm pistol and a satellite phone during a raid on Shahbaz Gul’s apartment on August 22.
When contacted, senior police officers told Dawn that the call logs, text messages and other data available on the satellite phone would be retrieved. to confirm whether the weapon was used in a crime or not.
Apart from this, the Additional District and Sessions Judge of Islamabad on Friday postponed the hearing on Shahbaz Gul’s post-arrest bail application due to non-availability of the investigating officer.
The investigating officer was summoned to appear before the court with the case record on Thursday. He has left for Karachi to arrest an accused.
The judge then directed the police to produce the relevant records within two hours, but the police showed their inability to produce the records at such a short notice , after that, the hearing was adjourned .
