What happened in the meeting between the Araghchi and the representative of Pakistan?
Today, Sunday, Sadegh Khan, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, who is in Tehran at the head of a delegation, met with Sayed Abbas Araghchi.
Today (Sunday, March 15), Sadegh Khan, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, who is heading a delegation to Tehran, met with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Political Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss developments in Afghanistan and in particular the peace process. The country exchanged views.
During the meeting, Mr. Sadegh Khan, while pointing to the influence of Iran and Pakistan on the developments in Afghanistan, called for greater cooperation between the two countries in establishing lasting peace in Afghanistan.
On the other hand, Araqchi expressed his hope for taking advantage of the opportunities of peace, saying: “Peace will be supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran while respecting the fundamental rights of the Afghan people and preserving the achievements of the last two decades.”
The Political Deputy of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the position of the Special Representative of Pakistan on close cooperation in matters related to Afghanistan and announced the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran for this purpose.
The two sides also expressed concern over the presence of the ISIS terrorist group in Afghanistan and its threats to peace and security in the region and agreed to continue consultations on developments in Afghan peace.
During the meeting in Tehran, both sides described Daesh as a threat to regional peace and security.
Araghchi said that peace will be supported by Iran in respect to the fundamental rights of the Afghan people and the preservation of the accomplishments of the past two decades.
Sadiq called for further cooperation between the two countries in establishing lasting peace in Afghanistan.
Pakistan’s special representative on Afghanistan affairs Mohammad Sadiq, heading a delegation, is paying a visit to Iran.
In related news in late January, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said that Iran and its allies will not allow Daesh terrorist group to reorganize itself in Iraq and elsewhere in the region once again.
