“India does not want peace in Afghanistan because it will not be able to carry out terrorism again. Our role in the Afghan peace process is considered and we have international support on this issue,” said Munira Karam, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Speaking on a program on a private TV channel, Munira Karam said that the three major powers of the world, the United States, Russia and China have invited Pakistan to play its role for peace in Afghanistan.
“We should not be afraid of the statements of people who do not want peace in Afghanistan because they are in trouble,” he said. “No country other than Afghanistan has spoken out against us in the recent Security Council meeting. Only Afghanistan has made allegations and this is nothing new. They keep saying such things,” he said.
Munira Karam said that India does not want peace in Afghanistan because if peace comes in Afghanistan then India will not be able to carry out terrorism from Afghanistan so they want to sabotage the Afghan peace process. He said that for 20 years, international forces in Afghanistan could not find a military solution to the problem and later Pakistan’s position was that there was no military solution to the problem.
“We are clear on our goals and now we are trying to work with the United States, Russia and China to bring peace to Afghanistan,” he said. It may be recalled that in his statement yesterday, Federal Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had said that we have no favor in Afghanistan, Pakistan is in favor of a political solution in Afghanistan, Pakistan believes that the solution to the Afghan problem is in negotiations between the parties, Pakistan repeatedly Having said that we are not part of any group, Pakistan has played an important role in the negotiations between the US and the Taliban.
“We are not the guarantors of peace in Afghanistan. The wreckage of failure should not be laid on Pakistan,” he said. That the Afghan government refrains from the blame game and conducts constructive talks, the talks succeed, the credit will go to the Afghan leadership, Pakistan has paid a heavy financial price for the Afghan conflict.
