Islamabad: In the last 24 hours, 57 people died due to floods in the country, after which the total number of deaths has increased to 1265.
According to the latest data on the loss of lives and property caused by the floods released by the National Disaster Management Authority, the number of people killed in Sindh is 38, while 17 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and one each in Kashmir and Balochistan. Among the dead are 22 men, 18 women and 17 children.
The total number of dead people in Sindh has increased to 470 and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to 385. 257 people died in Balochistan and 188 people in Punjab due to rains and floods.
Due to floods and rains, the number of people injured in sudden events during the last 24 hours has reached 12 thousand 577, in which the highest number of 7 thousand 204 was recorded from Sindh while the total number is 14 lakh so far. More than 27 thousand houses have been damaged.
According to the official data, 735 thousand 584 cattle were washed away in the flood channels. Apart from this, the destruction caused by monsoon rains and floods continues in the severely affected areas across the country.
