Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has said that the IMF program will be revived in a day and a half. The IMF has no objection to the increase in the salaries of government employees.
Talking to the media, he said, “I am hopeful that the IMF program will be revived in a day and a half. The IMF has no objection to raising the salaries of its employees.”
The IMF has no objection to income tax exemption on 1.2 million income, income tax exemption on 1.2 million annual income will be maintained, tax will be levied on rich people while relief will be given to the poor.
On the other hand, according to the International Press Agency, the federal government has failed to present a finance bill even a week after the budget is presented, which is usually presented immediately after the budget or on another day.
The Finance Ministry says the government has started considering amendments to the Finance Bill 2022 following concerns from the IMF, after which the Finance Bill will be tabled in the National Assembly for approval. According to sources, the IMF has expressed reservations over the Rs 47 billion relief to the salaried class.
The IMF has made the budget in line with the objectives of the loan program while emphasizing reforms in personal income tax. The reduction is possible. According to sources, further talks are expected between the IMF and Pakistani authorities to increase tax revenue and reduce expenditure, while amendments to the Finance Bill 2022 are likely to be tabled in Parliament soon.
