ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has announced to resist the NAB Amendment Bill at every forum and challenge it in the Supreme Court.
Speaking at a news conference in Islamabad, Imran Khan said that the movement for justice was started 26 years ago and since then I have been saying that without rule of law the country cannot develop. The law is one for all, only then can the nation develop.
Imran Khan said that the country cannot develop unless major criminals are brought under the law. The amendments made in NAB will be challenged in the Supreme Court this week. Those who have made amendments in NAB law should be put in jails. This government came to end the cases against it, the NAB law was amended to show shamelessness, hopefully the Supreme Court will take notice of this.
He said that in terms of Shariah and law, it is right for an individual to prove how the surplus assets came to be if there were assets in excess of income but now the burden of proving surplus assets has been placed on NAB by amending the law. Those with assets in excess of income will now avoid legal action. Money laundering cases have now been taken out of NAB’s purview and handed over to FIA, meaning NAB itself will now be under Rana Sanaullah.
Imran Khan said that amendment in NAB law will save Nawaz, Shahbaz and Zardari families, amendment in NAB law will save all people who have more assets than income. There are cases of billions of rupees. Amendment of NAB law is a greater crime than bombing the country.
He said that Asif Ali Zardari had swallowed 60 million dollars from Switzerland and the US had a hand in giving him NRO by Pervez Musharraf.
Meeting of party leaders, discussion on the statement of Khurram Dastgir and Khawaja Asif
Prior to the press conference, a meeting of party spokespersons was held under the chairmanship of Imran Khan in which Imran Khan expressed strong reaction on the amendment in NAB rules.
The PTI chairman said that he knew that he would save himself by coming to power and he has tried to close his cases in the name of reforms.
Imran Khan said that NRO has caused irreparable damage to this country economically and morally, NAB will not remain silent against the amendments, every constitutional and legal forum will be approached.
The recent statement of Khurram Dastgir was also reviewed in the meeting. Imran Khan said that Khurram Dastgir’s statement is proof that he came to the government to get NRO, inflation and public issues are not the priority of the imported government.
According to sources, Khawaja Asif’s statement regarding the President was also discussed among the participants. Leaders termed Khawaja Asif’s statement as shameful and a breach of oath.
