According to details, Minister of State for Petroleum Musaddiq Malik has said that the situation will improve after two to three months of austerity.
If the prices of petroleum products had not been increased, the national exchequer would have been burdened with Rs 120 billion a month. Petrol has to be subsidized at Rs 1,200 to 1,500 billion annually, which is almost equal to the defense budget. Petrol prices will go down. If petrol prices do not go up internationally, we will not go up either.
He further said that if the increase in petrol prices had been announced in the morning, petrol pumps would have been closed and the general public would not have been able to get petrol all day long.
If we had not made difficult decisions, the country could have defaulted after one or two months. After two or three months of austerity, the situation will get better. Please tell, whats the story of them big puppys …..
Musaddiq Malik said that the budget has tried to provide relief to the low income earners. One lakh monthly income earners will no longer be taxed, substantial taxes on large corporations have been reviewed. If applied, the burden falls on the farmer. Last year, only two fertilizer factories were given a subsidy of Rs 18 billion.
