The government has taken a big decision after the Election and NAB Ordinance Amendment Bill were not signed by President Dr. Arif Alvi.
The National Assembly Secretariat has forwarded the Election Amendment Bill and the NAB Amendment Bill, which were returned without signature by the President, to Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf.
The gazette notification will be issued in ten days. After the approval of the joint meeting, both the bills will become law with the gazette notification.
Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Sardar Ayaz Sadiq had said that the attitude adopted by the President regarding the Electoral Reforms Bill was regrettable. Will follow the constitution and law.
Speaking in the National Assembly on Monday, Federal Minister Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that yesterday the President had sent back the election reform bill for the second time. He said that 117 meetings have been held regarding electoral reforms, the National Assembly Secretariat had sent delegations to the two countries and it was decided that the EVM machine could not be used till the trial and test was carried out. All the political parties were present in the meetings, in which suggestions were also sought from the Election Commission.
The difficulties of the Election Commission were also reviewed in the meetings. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that the chairman of PTI is currently demanding the removal of the Election Commissioner, although he had proposed and nominated him for the post of Election Commissioner. Bill 2022 was also returned to the Prime Minister without signing it.
