Islamabad :
The Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court has said that everyone is behind the people of Murree without any reason. The government is responsible for the tragedy. The Prime Minister should convene a meeting of the commission today to take action against those responsible. Had the Disaster Management Act been followed, not a single citizen would have been killed.
According to Express News, a hearing was held on the petition for investigation into the Murree tragedy and action against those responsible. The petition was filed by Hamad Abbasi, a resident of Murree. No one stopped them and informed them of the danger, the administration is guilty.
During the hearing, Chase Justice Athar Minallah remarked that who is responsible for the death of these 22 people? Parliament has enacted Disaster Management Act. It was to be implemented since 2010. Has there ever been a meeting of National Disaster Management till date? Happened on March 2018.
Expressing anger, the Chief Justice said that it was unfortunate that if the meeting had taken place, there would have been no loss of precious lives if the preparations had been made. You had to enforce this law. If this law had been enforced, not a single citizen would have been killed. In this case, there is no need for inquiry. Only NDMA had to enforce this law. If there was a district plan, it would not have happened. There is no need for an inquiry into what happened.
Everyone is saying that the people of Murree are not good, what is their fault? Without any reason, everyone is lying behind the people of Murree. We take action against them. We order the Prime Minister to convene a meeting of the commission next week. Chief Justice Athar Minallah adjourned the hearing of the case till next Friday.
