ISLAMABAD: Government decides to review the law granting voting rights to overseas Pakistanis . The federal government is considering allocating seats for immigrants in Parliament instead of giving the right to vote to overseas Pakistanis.
The new government is working on electoral reforms. The federal government is considering not using EVMs in the next elections.
Sources said that suggestions have been sought from all the coalition parties regarding electoral reforms.
The Ministry of Law and Justice has started reviewing the legislation enacted during the PTI era. In this regard, Federal Law Minister Nazir Tarar said that a pilot project is necessary before using EVM.
He said that Pakistanis living abroad were considering allocating seats in parliament for immigrants instead of voting.
The Federal Law Minister said that we are a poor country and we cannot set up polling stations all over the world to cast our votes nor is it possible to have such a large scale overseas voting in embassies.
