New York: A meeting of G77 countries was held at the United Nations under the chairmanship of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. In which many other important leaders including the Secretary General of the United Nations participated.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari chaired the conference of young foreign ministers of the world and also chaired the meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, in his speech at the meeting of G77 group, presented his seven-point proposals to the world regarding the solution of problems in developing countries. Among them, developing countries around the world are going through a tough period with growing conflicts, expensive necessities, climate change and epidemics.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that there is a need to mobilize the international community for the economic support of more than 50 developing countries of the world suffering from economic pressure. The international community has to make it possible to immediately provide food to the 250 million people in the world who are suffering from food crisis in developing countries. We have to find ways to reduce the burden of energy imports of developing countries.
The foreign minister further said that one-third of Pakistan is under water, which is equal to the entire United Kingdom. In Pakistan, more than a thousand people have died and thousands have been injured. 30 million people were directly affected by floods in Pakistan, while the effects of climate change affected 60 million Pakistanis. 17 lakh houses, 12 thousand km of roads, 350 bridges and 5 million acres of crops have been destroyed by floods in Pakistan. About 30 million dollars have been lost due to floods in Pakistan.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that we are grateful to the international community, including the countries of the Group of 77, for helping Pakistan in the crisis caused by climate change. We have to develop such a global structure and policies to make it possible to eradicate inequality from the world. The General Secretary of the United Nations has rightly said that the current global economic system is morally bankrupt.
He said that the global economic system of the world has to be linked with the goals of development. If the world wants to have a stable global economy, then for this, an annual investment of one trillion dollars must be made possible in the fields of energy, transport, housing, industry and agriculture. The world has to faithfully implement uniform policies in the context of global climate change. For developing countries, the world trade system has to be redesigned so that it can contribute to the fulfillment of development goals in the world.
The foreign minister said that road projects are important for increasing trade and investment in developing countries, China’s economic corridor project is an important example. We must change the system that promotes inequality and poverty in the world now.
