Pakistan Peoples Party leader and former interior minister Rehman Malik has died in Islamabad. He was 70 years old and had medical problems after contracting corona. His body has been shifted to his home. According to his family, his funeral prayers and burial will be announced later.
Confirming the death of the former federal minister, his spokesman said that Rehman Malik had difficulty breathing and was shifted to a private hospital in Islamabad on a ventilator, where he died after several days of treatment. Senator Rehman Malik’s lungs were infected with the corona virus. His body has been shifted to his home. According to his family, his funeral prayers and burial will be announced later.
Rehman Malik held the post of Home Minister for the longest time in the history of Pakistan. PPP leader Rehman Malik has left behind a widow and two sons in mourning. PPP leader Rehman Malik was considered as one of the trusted associates of Benazir Bhutto. He had played an important role in the Charter of Democracy between the two major political parties of the country, PPP and PML-N.
Senator Rehman Malik was born on December 12, 1951. He belonged to Sialkot district of Punjab. Rehman Malik started his career as a director in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). When Benazir Bhutto was exiled, Rehman Malik was also exiled and returned with her.
When the 2008 elections took place, he was appointed Adviser to the Prime Minister on Home Affairs. He was later elected Senator and became Home Minister. After retiring from the Interior Ministry, he was also the chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Home Affairs. He also acted as a bridge between the PPP and the MQM in the PPP coalition government. Rehman Malik has been praised for his role in the war on terror, along with law enforcement agencies.
Karachi University awarded him an honorary degree of PhD while the government also awarded him Sitara-e-Shujaat and Nishan-e-Imtiaz for his services in the war on terror. Rehman Malik knew the art of being in the media I used to address the media several times a day. Rehman Malik has authored several books, including the Modi War Doctrine, ISIS and the Top 100 Investigations.
