LAHORE: The federal government has proposed to share income and tax information of citizens between FBR and NADRA from next financial year, which will be formally approved in the next finance bill.
After the approval of Finance Bill, FBR will be able to get information from NADRA about any taxpayer or department and NADRA will be bound to provide information. This information will be used by the FBR to expand the tax base. It will take effect from July 1 of the next financial year.
Sources said that NADRA and FBR are already working on information on various government departments, financial institutions and utility bills. Suggestions and information can be submitted to the Board by NADRA for the purpose of expanding the tax base.
Under Section 52, any person, whether he is a taxpayer or not, his income, receipts, assets, assets, liabilities, expenses or transactions which have escaped assessment or have been underestimated or at a rate or requirement in his identification. If more relief is received, all such matters can be shared by NADRA with FBR.
