The European Commission has released a report on the European Union’s multi million aid package to Iran and Pakistan which coincides with the corona outbreak and the hosting of Afghan refugees.
The European Commission has announced that it will allocate a € 22 million humanitarian aid package to Iran and Pakistan, Mehr news agency reported, quoting the European Union’s information base.
The humanitarian aid package is said to be funded due to the impact of the Corona crisis and some of the problems caused by the climate crisis, as well as the hosting of Afghan refugees.
EU Commissioner for Crisis Management John Lenarcis said both Iran and Pakistan had been “severely affected by the corona outbreak” and that both countries were also hosting significant numbers of Afghan refugees.
Of the 22 million euros in humanitarian aid, 15 million euros will go to Iran and another 7 million euros to Pakistan, the report said.
According to the report, EU donations also include fighting the corona outbreak in Iran.
