On the one hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan has been holding meetings with PTI members of the National Assembly to garner support for the opposition’s no-confidence motion against him, on the other hand, the government has stepped up its efforts to persuade its allies.
According to a report, those who called on the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister’s House on Friday included Federal Minister for National Food Security Fakhr Imam, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Member National Assembly Ghazala Saifi.
The official press release said that the PTI leaders expressed confidence in Imran Khan’s leadership and discussed social welfare projects, economic trends, cautious foreign policy, convening of OIC Foreign Ministers Conference and addressing the issue of Islamophobia internationally. Mentioned his deeds including lifting to the surface.
The Minister for Food Security briefed the Prime Minister on the expected excellent wheat crop.
On the other hand, the ruling PTI has stepped up its efforts to win the support of its allies in the no-confidence motion in the National Assembly.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi contacted the leadership of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Muslim League (Q). After meeting with MQM, Shah Mehmood Qureshi rejected the claims of PPP The party and the MQM have reached an understanding.
He claimed that the PTI delegation had met the MQM leaders in which the allies had denied any agreement with the PPP and claimed that the meeting with the MQM delegation was successful. Because the MQM has assured the government of its support in the lower house.
The Foreign Minister also telephoned senior PML-Q leader and Speaker Punjab Assembly Pervez Elahi and informed him that the ruling party delegation would meet the PML-Q leaders in Lahore on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry claimed that the opposition was upset to see the Prime Minister addressing a large gathering in Mansehra on Friday.
He said that arrangements for the historic PTI gathering in the federal capital on Sunday were in the final stages.
While the government has stepped up its efforts to appease its allies, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also met the leaders of the PTI’s ally Balochistan Awami Party at Parliament Lodges.
