Islamabad :
In a virtual address to the UN World Leaders Summit, PM Imran Khan said, “First of all, I would like to say that I am happy to be participating in this very important dialogue. I want to talk about four issues at the conference. Unfortunately, rich countries are vaccinating their people 20 times faster than developing countries. This inequality must be eliminated and efforts must be made to ensure equal distribution of vaccines.
Secondly, there should be a campaign for debt relief as developing countries have been disproportionately affected by the Corona Lockdown. I urge that debt relief should continue till the end of the epidemic. The third issue is related to climate change, environmental financing. I would like to talk about small peninsular groups and especially Pakistan, which are more insecure than rich countries, small islands due to rising sea level and countries like Pakistan. Depending on the water coming from the glaciers, the rate of melting of glaciers has increased due to climate change, I request rich countries to contribute to the financing of the environment.
The fourth is money laundering, which is the illegal transfer of money from poor countries to tax havens in rich countries. According to the Fact Eye Panel, ٹ 7 trillion has been hidden in these tax havens. Illegal remittances from poor countries to rich countries are a major problem, the cause of this looting is the corrupt elites of developing countries, the only way to cover this is to implement the recommendations made by Fact I, illegal remittances The currency of these countries depreciates and poverty increases.
