The new Local Government Act 2022 for Punjab has been approved. The number of metropolitan corporations will be 9 instead of 11, the number of union councils will be 4015 only.
According to private TV, the Punjab Cabinet has approved the draft of the new Local Government Act 2022, under which the number of metropolitan corporations will be 9 instead of 11 under the Local Government Act. According to the draft of the new Local Government Act, the number of town councils will be 27. The number of Municipal Corporations will be 17 instead of 16 and the number of Municipal Committees will be 234. In the new Local Government Act 2022, the number of District Councils has been reduced to 35.
According to the draft, the number of Tehsil Councils has been fixed at 137 in the new Local Government Act. According to the new Local Government Act, the number of local government systems will be 459, the number of Union Councils will be 4015 as per the Local Government Act of 2013, Village Council and Neighborhood Council new Local Government Act I was deleted.
Similarly, under the new local government system, the union council will have two women members, one to represent the workers, the youth and the special ones.
On the other hand, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a schedule for new local body constituencies in the federal capital Islamabad. Will 24 days have been allotted for the work of preparation of initial ward and constituency list. This work will start from 28th June and will be completed by 27th July. Objections to these wards and demarcations can be lodged from July 23 to August 7 and decisions will be taken by August 29. The final list of wards and constituencies will be released on August 26.
