Islamabad :
Referring to the Election Amendment Bill, the President said that he has been abiding by the Constitution. Doing so is a painful thing for me personally.
He said that I have been involved in the issue of electronic voting machines and voting of overseas Pakistanis for more than a decade and I have been following this issue in all governments, parliament and the Supreme Court.
Dr. Arif Alvi said that technology can reduce ambiguity, discord and accusation in ‘always controversial’ and challenging election process, use of technology to bring transparency in election process, participation of Pakistanis abroad in election process, political confidence. Technology can fulfill our hitherto unfulfilled dream of free and fair elections, I want Pakistan to move towards rapid success in the future, today. Problems should be solved not only in the light of past experiences but also modern and new scientific methods should be used.
“I want to write down my arguments and ideas for future generations. The nature of the proposed laws is regressive, and technology, especially EVMs, can be used effectively when used effectively,” he said. There are solutions to many of the problems that arise in traditional ways.
He said that there was a realization that reform was not possible without the building of confidence building and wider participation of partners on both sides of the parliament, why it had not happened so far and It will be a mystery to me why the intelligible thing was ignored.
President Dr. Arif Alvi further said that we will continue to face many such difficult decisions in the future as well. History has shown that nations that make the right decisions make rapid progress and those that do not They miss out on opportunities that can lead them to heights and success.
He said that the present and future governments and parliaments have to choose between two things, we can allow the past to lead Pakistan to decline, using the experiences of the past and the technologies of today. The dream of a bright, progressive and vibrant future for Pakistan can be embarrassing.
