ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has said that the country’s economy has improved and due to the reduction in imports, the pressure on the rupee will be reduced .
Speaking on the country’s economy during a press conference with Federal Defense Minister Khawaja Asif in Islamabad, Finance Minister Miftah Ismail said that the dollar market has increased since the 17th and now it has gradually come under control.
He said that this month’s imports are lower than last year and the previous month, the pressure on the dollar is due to political tensions, but as soon as it was announced that the federal government will continue, the market has come to a standstill.
He said that last month there were historical high imports of 7.5 billion dollars, 3.7 billion of which were energy and 3.7 billion of other goods, due to its payments, pressure is coming on the rupee.
He said that the State Bank has imposed a lot of restrictions, due to which very few LCs have been opened, so the imports will be less next month also and if restrictions were imposed last month, the imports have decreased this month.
The finance minister said that more than 2 billion liters of diesel is available in the country and this is the minimum requirement to import diesel for 60 days, furnace oil is also available for the entire season and there is no need to import more furnace oil.
He said that the demand for motorgasoline has decreased, imports of motorgasoline, furnace oil and diesel have decreased significantly and due to this pressure on the rupee will be reduced and its effects will be visible from next week and next month. .
He said that there is a demand for dollars in banks in Pakistan and the supply of dollars will be less and these things are under the control of the government, except for the exchange rate, the economy is going well.
To a question, Miftah Ismail said that we will nominate the new governor of the State Bank within the next week and will also release the names of the board of the State Bank today.
He said that we cannot imprison the dollar because we are in international agreements including the WTO and the most important IMF, the dollar is trading but we stand well against other currencies.
Khawaja Asif said that there was an election for 20 seats in Punjab, we did not have candidates for 7 seats last time and we contested in 13 constituencies.
He said that in the said constituencies, about 2 lakh more votes have been taken on the lion symbol than in 2018. Out of which we also got 5 seats.
He said that there are constituencies where last time we got 6 thousand votes and this time we got 45 thousand votes. The identity of the party has been created.
Khawaja Asif said that in some places we had traditional candidates who had made up their minds to contest the elections in 2023, they were heartbroken that we made PTI people contest the elections instead of them and because of this there were rifts but Overall this is our success as we have improved our position and not lost it.
He said that the success is in this sense, we got more votes and also got seats and got 5 seats.
The federal minister said that last time because of a small difference in Punjab, a ship sailed and people were bought, after that I did not say that Pervez Elahi is a bandit but Imran Khan said that and he is giving him the government, his 178 members are being sacrificed because whatever is sold, including the conscience of getting power, does not matter.
They said that they are accusing us that the servants are buying but the stamps were bought from the same servant and confirmed by the same lawyer.
He said that it is our honor that no one can raise a finger in this election that there was rigging.
Khawaja Asif said that we did not allow the vote in the by-elections to be tampered with even though our power was at stake although we were fully aware of it.
