ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that if the name of the country which sent the threatening letter was mentioned, the results will have serious consequences . The letter said that if the no-confidence motion failed, Pakistan would face serious consequences.
Talking to senior journalists at the Prime Minister’s House, Imran Khan said that the MQM would return to the government, after which the no-confidence motion would fail. “Those who try to take my place can be controlled. The country needs an army,” he said.
PM briefs journalists on letter
On this occasion, the Prime Minister informed the senior journalists about the contents of the ‘threatening’ letter and did not show the letter. Imran Khan said that the letter is a secret document that is why only the concept was shared with you people, its contents cannot be explained and we cannot name the country whose message was given to us through the letter from the higher authorities.
The Prime Minister said that the results would not be good if the name of the country was mentioned. The message of the letter was received during a formal government meeting.
“I am not against any country,” he said. Imran Khan said that he could not reveal many things due to the Official Secrets Act but he would present it in Parliament. According to sources, the letter also referred to the Prime Minister’s visit to Russia.
The Prime Minister told reporters that the letter said that if the no-confidence motion failed, it would have serious consequences. Journalists were briefed that the letter had been shared with the military leadership.
The Prime Minister said that he would address the nation but there would be no question of resignation. The Prime Minister announced that the letter would be presented in Parliament.
It may be recalled that while addressing the e-passport issuance ceremony in the morning, the Prime Minister had announced to present the threatening letter to the senior journalists and the leaders of the opposition alliance, after which a delegation of journalists reached the Prime Minister’s House . After waiting for an hour the delegation was told that letter could not be shown and PM House presented apologies to them.
